The bigger "ask" for us is an internal ledger, where credits (retainers) and debits (billable time) can be tracked so we can generate real time statements for our Clients, at any time. This is different from the connection to quick books, but are related. Being able to connect online from Primary Records is important, as we can generate invoices for Retainers right from quickbooks. Quickbooks works with businesses, like you, to do this.
The other big "ask" is the billable time countdown, against the retainer, to know at all times how much money is left in the "bucket" and when to reach out to the Client to request more money. I like the way Solace makes it so simple to set up for a retainer versus line item billing. You just click on what you want to do. I just don't want to work with Solace on this because they charge our Client's 10% off the top. I would consider charging 3% to pass on the credit card fees to the Client.
